Comparison of the mechanical properties of chopped glass, carbon, and aramid fiber reinforced polypropylene

In this work, a comparative assessment of the mechanical properties chopped glass-carbon-aramid fiber reinforced polypropylene (PP) composites was carried out. Reinforcement and matrix materials were mixed with extrusion method, then composite produced in form plates press molding technique. The composites' tensile, 3-point bending, drop weight tests out surface morphology fractured surfaces examined by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). tests’ results indicate that increase significantly presence fiber. On other hand, it is observed effect percentage decreases as content increases. Moreover, It some pulled from result stress. ANOVA analysis using S/N values, F-Test performed to observe effectiveness each test factor (fiber type, additive content) on results. Finally, an optimization study obtain mathematical expression fitting experimental data.
